Chief Financial Officer

The Nunavut Development Corporation (NDC) works to create employment and income opportunities in Nunavut through subsidiary and equity investments. This crown corporation currently operates eight subsidiary companies specifically in Nunavut’s arts and crafts, and meat and fish sectors. NDC also operates a Sales Division in the Greater Toronto area. Gross Revenues of the Corporation exceed $7 million dollars annually.

NDC is currently recruiting for the position of Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the President of the Corporation the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for a wide variety of critical financial undertakings. Key responsibilities include:

  • Timely preparation of annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP and the preparation of the Corporation’s annual report
  • Working closely with all external auditors of the Corporation during the course of the annual audit of the NDC and its subsidiaries
  • Working closely with the Audit Committee of the Corporation in the ongoing analysis and assessment of key corporate financial objectives
  • Overseeing the completion of the annual corporate plan including the preparation of corporate operating and capital budgets
  • Regular preparation of internal financial reports to routinely monitor operating results
  • Ongoing monitoring and analysis of the operating results of the Corporation’s subsidiary companies and sales division
  • Review and development of corporate policies designed to safeguard the assets of the Corporation and enhance the overall control environment
  • Providing advice and direction to subsidiary and subordinate HQ accounting staff on a wide variety of financial matters as they arise

The ideal applicant will have a professional accounting designation, at least 5 years of senior financial management experience and will possess excellent communication skills. The individual will be well versed in wide variety of accounting software and other administrative computer applications. Travel is required as part of this position.

Compensation will be dependent upon qualifications and experience, with a starting salary of $180,000 and Northern Living Allowance of $18,517, Housing Allowance of 9,600.00.
